Not sure if Xena Warrior Princess qualifies as an “official” superhero, but she was definitely one to me growing up. Xena was a symbol of woman strength and gave me the idea to challenge traditional gender roles from the first episode I saw of the show when I was about 8 years old. The photo on the left is of me in my first store bought costume when the show was still on while the one on the right is me before the 2010 NYC Comic Con in my own handmade costume. Even now she still inspires me to take charge and like or do anything I want without feeling ashamed.
